Blog Action Day: Blogging About Water

Water

Today, thousands of popular blogs are blogging about one thing: water. Why? Because the most plentiful resource on earth happens to be one of the most scarce when it comes to finding it in a drinkable form. About one in every six persons on the planet have limited access (if any) to drinkable water.

It’s the result of a massive campaign by Change.org to provoke bloggers to inspire their readership to tackle a meaningful cause, such as by visiting charity:water or water.org and donating to the cause.

I think it highlights some important details about the blogging industry that we need not soon forget, such as:

  • Popularity is one thing, but influence for good is quite another.
  • Bloggers have power, more than ever, and it certainly isn’t shrinking.
  • Even in a competitive field, a good cause is worth coming together for.
  • Communities can accomplish huge goals.
  • Few people want to be left out of major movements. So make major movements.
