Does Your Blog Focus On Visitors? – Feedback Friday
For this week’s edition of Feedback Friday, I’d like to focus on something I’ve been seeing quite a bit from bloggers across a variety of niches.
Your focus on the visitor.

When you first started your blog(s), you were probably focused on a lot of different tasks … choosing a great name, exploring themes, getting lost in the jumbles of plugins, writing the first post, writing your about page, and building a strong foundation for your future work.
You weren’t focused on the visitor.
If you’re not sure if you’ve fully swung focus toward the visitor, feel free to leave a comment containing a link to your blog and I’ll check it out. I’m running a bit behind on the last Feedback Friday post, but I promise to get to them eventually.
How can you tell?
Here’s what I’ll be looking at to gauge whether or not your blog focuses on your visitors:
- The about page
- The content
- The comment section
- The sidebar
- The optimization of your blog if needed
- and the contact page.
As always, I’m looking forward to checking out your blogs and discussing your focus in the comments.
Until next time!

Cool idea! But I do not see anyone taking you up on it here, and the blogging ninja is tweeting you so I am surprised to find no comments here- maybe we can get some going as if you are offering to peruse blogs and help people be more visitor friendly hey what a great idea to help make all of us better bloggers. :)
Take Care Sandy
Thanks for swinging by, Sandy. It’s interesting to see which Feedback Friday topics attract interaction and which don’t.
If you’re looking for a ton of interaction, check out some of the more popular topics from the past, including this or this or this.

Hey Chuck –
Thanks for sharing your blog with us! It looks like you’re on a roll and doing well with your personal challenge. Comments are rolling in so you must be doing something right! :)
Personal challenges by nature don’t focus on the visitor, so you face a particularly difficult task to involve your visitors, however, one way you might be able to pull the visitor in and keep him or her reading is to challenge them with the same task you face each week. Or, moving forward, give your visitors an idea of what you’ll be doing next week so they can tag along. This should make for much more engaged interaction in the comments section specifically about the challenge you’re facing together.
The reason why visitors subscribe or bookmark a blogger is because of his or her voice. You offer a unique perspective with this challenge, so now all you have to do is consider throwing out tips here and there as you learn and encourage people to join you in the challenge.
Thanks for the idea about a “teaser”
Just published some thoughts about goals and included a lot of Questions.
What is your take on this approach?

Hey Jenny –
Thanks for your patience and taking the time to share your work with us here.
Your blog is a great example of balancing both a personal focus and a focus on others with similar experiences. As a writer, I see a lot of value and insight on your blog that I can use on my own path, so I’m engaged right off the bat.
The personal stories add that unique perspective people look for, as mentioned above.
Keep up the great work!
P.S. Have you checked out FuelYourWriting.com?
Hi Christopher – thanks for that! I feel encouraged :) I’m going to take a look at fuel your writing now…
Maybe some tips for better focus on the visitors?
Hey Eric — a lot of tips tend to unfold in the comments section of the Feedback Friday posts, but I think you’ve got a good idea here.
Thanks for the idea!
