Google+ … A Facebook Killer?
There’s been a lot of speculation over the long-awaited secret social network Google’s been working on over the past few years — probably even more so due to the growing desire for an alternative to Facebook, the launch of other social services, and the overall secrecy of the project. But after much debate and long await, Google finally announced their secret social project last week.
It’s called Google+ … Real life sharing, rethought for the web.
I recently wrote about another launch from Google called Google +1, and expressed concern for the launch due to the lack of any social experience with the service, but I’m wondering if Google+ is the missing link needed to make it all work.
Though it might be late to the social network boom and Google doesn’t have the best track record of product launches, the hardworking team at Google has introduced a few new features for us to enjoy during our social experience online. Watch the video for their tour, and post your comments below.

I started using Google+ a few days ago, and can honestly say it blows Facebook out of the water on so many levels.
It can only get better from here!

I really like the interface myself … super-simple and elegant. I’m excited for the business pages aspect of the network, which will probably include maps and places and deals.
Where do you think they’ll take it in the future?
When will google open Google+ to the public? I am really waiting for it ! :D
Still not sure about there, Daksh … but at 10 million users pre-launch, I’d say this networks gonna be hopping when they do.
Hummm I love facebook and cannot imagine Google will ever really compete with it, they should focus their efforts on giving better search results rather than extending on to something else. The amount of spam I find in the top ten results when I am completing research is unreal.
Hey Michelle,
I think the motive behind G+ actually is focused on better results. I recently wrote a post for @weblogbetter in which I went into detail about how the social network will eventually help improve the result pages.
It’s speculative, but we’re already starting to see proof that a log of it is happening.
Check out the post, and chime up with your ideas — I’d love to continue the conversation with you :) http://goo.gl/3NQek
well with google +1 launch, i doubt they can kill FB immediately. but may be killing it softly. atleast they can convert few percentage of social networkers. this is just the beggining and lets see wat will happen
I’ve been hearing a lot of people excited to “make the move” from FB to G+ … but it’s kinda sad in my opinion, because I think there’s room for both.
Why move when you could have both? They both offer different features. What do you think?
thats true christopher. its up to google how they can outsmart FB. how they can convert FB followers into their own.
I’m not really sure about taking Facebook head on, but I still have high hopes for G+. This is the best social platform Google had up till now if you ask me. And I hope they won’t lose the lead they have now.
