Posterous Just Got A Lot More Awesome

Wordpress is the reigning king of blogging platforms with a few others trailing in the distance. Posterous is one of the new kids on the block and has thus far almost always been mentioned in the same conversations as Tumblr as kind of a mini-blogging platform sitting somewhere between micro-blogging and full-out online publishing.

But today Posterous announced their new Post Editor 2.0 and they’re referring to it as “your universal posting tool.”

It does three things very well:

  • Batch uploading.
  • Easy text editing.
  • Awesome image galleries.

So it doesn’t do everything as well as other platforms, but what it does do, it does with ease! An established favorite feature of Posterous is the ability to post anything by email simply by emailing post@posterous.com. You don’t even have to officially sign up – it creates a blog based on the email address from which you sent the email. This offers several advantages…

  • It’s easy. If you know how to send an email, you can blog.
  • It’s a great way to create multi-author blogs on the fly without assigning roles and passwords.
  • It’s a great way to post content to multiple platforms simultaneously with their “post everywhere” feature, just by sending an email.

And now they’ve rounded out their features with a great web-based editor. Most of us will remain faithful to our chosen outlets, but if you’re getting started with blogging, Posterous is worth a look for sure!

Have a thought or critique? Share it. Have an experience to share with posterous? Share that too. Personally, I’ve come to love my “side blog” as I like to call it.

In addition to serving as Editor of Fuel Your Blogging, Brandon is also a Pastor at Saddleback Church and Online Community Coordinator for Pastors.com. He’s also a web designer, blogger, and church communications consultant. Catch him on his own blog or on Twitter.
