The Hot List of Links for Bloggers
Each week we’re attempting to narrow the entire internet down to five of the very best news items of particular interest to bloggers. After perusing hundreds of potential articles from blogs across the web, here are our five for this week… (congrats to the hot picks)
This Week’s Flames
This may be the most exciting release of Wordpress yet, and since a huge number of bloggers utilize the platform, we were excited to read the Tuts Plus list of what’s coming. Perhaps we’ll persuade a few more folks to come over to the Wordpress-side!
Joel calls us to remember a very simple truth – it’s not about how many you put your message in front of, it’s whom you put it in front of. With that in mind, a blogger with a small and faithful following may have a tremendous impact.
Where exactly did blogging come from, and how in the world did we get to where we are today online? Hong Kiat does a pretty great job of surveying some of the most impactful ventures in the online world that have created all the stuff we blog about the most.
Lindsay Branscombe has done a sweet job of pointing out one of the more important facets of blogging – keeping in mind that every blog has a brand, a story that gets told. She talks about doing what is in our power to control that brand.
We always like to highlight a good post about writing when we talk about the “hot picks” among blogging news because great writing is such an integral part of strong blogging. Patti Stafford is no stranger to the subject and has written a nice piece about writing with personality.
Check’em all out. If you want to find your blog in this list someday do these two things: introduce yourself with the contact form above and be excellent!
Brandon has been doing web and logo design and this blogging thing for about six years. He’s also a Pastor at Saddleback Church in southern California, where he lives with his wife and kids. You can catch him on Twitter or Facebook.

Let’s all say it together – We Love Mitch.
On a back-end dev note, I’m very excited about WP3.0 – having seen the evolution of the platform since circa 1.7, it’s amazing how far the platform has come, and how much potential it still has.
I’m with you, Ian. This installment of WP seems to really take it to the next level as a stand-alone CMS. It’s been that for a while, but it’s an even more natural fit as new features get added.
