Running multiple blogs can be frustrating when we are overwhelmed with too much work. I do agree with you Brandon, organizing and laying down schedules is indeed helpful in managing different blogs.

Thanks for sharing these tips!

Such a great article! I'm in a bit of a quandry with regarding to beginning a second blog and perhaps you can help: In 2009 I started a personal blog called "The Fragrant Muse" which was designed as a personal blog to focused on my two passions: aromatherapy and creativity as well as miscellaneous family stuff thrown in. I am surprised how much it has grown in popularity, especially in the aromatherapy community.

Fast forward to 2011. I recently opened an aromatherapy school called Aromatic Wisdom Institute. I want to create a professional blog focusing solely on all things aromatherapy and aromatherapy business without all the fun fluff that I had in my first blog. However, I don't want to abandon my first blog since it gets a good google ranking and, quite frankly, I have fun with it. It's a good place to just purge all my thoughts and share my interests. . However, The Fragrant Muse has become a name many in the aromatherapy industry recognize but my school is called Aromatic Wisdom and my blog should proabably be called Aromatic Wisdom blog. How can I blend the two blogs?

Any suggestions, thoughts would be appreciated!

Enzo, I think the answer to that could probably be another blog post (so thanks for the idea!) but I think one of the advantages to the single blog with multiple authors would be the value of the social proof. You basically would be consolidating and concentrating traffic and other details.

In other words, Huffington Post has a lot of readers, but it's essentially a collection of blogs, each of which have a much smaller readership.

What are the pros and cons of running a single blog with multiple authors vs. multiple blogs hosted on the same platform, like WordPress MU for example?

I own three blogs and have created a number for my clients. One blog is a group blog and I've delegated more and more over the past years. The other two are solely mine. Good tips!

I have two blogs, and the workload is already killing. Fortunately the two little blogs can produce backlinks to each other
