Use Nachofoto to Search for Images in Real Time
Two tools that come in very handy for bloggers are the ability to search the real time web for up-to-the-minute news, and the ability to find useful images, especially those related to breaking news topics.
Welcome Nachofoto to the scene, offering a real-time web search for images, bringing the best of two tools together.

And of course, one of the handiest features is a list of hot trending topics. As a matter of fact, trending photos are the only photos you’ll find in the search engine. For the moment, the usage of Nachofoto may be quite limited. It doesn’t seem to offer anything not already available in other tools. And while the interface is usable enough, it lacks a unique aesthetic identity.
Nontheless, you may find Nachofoto a nice addition to your blogging toolbox. What other tools do you use for finding photos across the web?

This is cool, but unless you’re using a web connected, mobile device to capture images, it isn’t actually live — just looking at the photos within the screenshot above reveals this. It might become searchable immediately, but that’s not the only reason why live search rocks our socks; we love it because we can see what people are doing NOW.
Live search is awesome for text because we know what people are talking about and doing at that very moment — it tells us Jack just left for Catalina Island 10 minutes ago, so I know that he’s probably still on his way there.
Because so many people still use cameras without a web connection, as with the iPhone or any other, the search is slightly polluted. We’ll be able to see that Jill uploaded an image of herself in Mexico 2 seconds ago, but we know she’s already back from that trip, therefore the element of knowing what she’s doing right NOW is eliminated.
With web connected, mobile cameras getting better and better (iPhone 4 rumored to have 5.0 – 8.0 mega pixel camera!), I think we’ll eventually get to a point where we can share our photos instantly, thereby skipping the haste of importing, saving, moving, uploading, and all that tech jazz, but we’re not quite there yet.
Wow, I’m glad I skipped the 3GS to wait for the 4G. It will be interesting to see whether real time search allows smaller search engines to rise to the forefront. We’ll see.
